Doing his best Freddie Mercury impersonation, former ginger star Ewan McGregor was almost unrecognizable in West Hollywood on Tuesday.

Decked out in a new jet black 'do, '70s porn stache and leather gear, the 42-year-old Scottish hunk showed off his tough new persona after leaving a salon.

The makeover is for the new indie western flick "Jane Got a Gun," which he's working on with Natalie Portman ... his co-star in the "Star Wars" prequel trilogy.
